I'm not a registered Star Wars Artist, but I hope to be. Like most fans of Star Wars I've been drawing Star Wars pictures since I was a kid. Now I'm 37, I'm still drawing in my spare time - in between running a software company (http://www.aspininteractive.com) and writing a novel and short stories, phew!

My first illustrated short story is now available to buy in hardback (£9.99).

Hi Cynthia, here's the one of you and Mike. He talked about your cards all the way back to the south coast. They are great. I'll show a few examples on the site. Please check out Cynthia's site at http://www.cynthiacummensart.com

About Marcus Pullen

I studied art and graphic design at the prestigious Bournmouth & Poole College of Art & Design in the UK. I then went to study Media design at the University of Portsmouth. I got seriously into computer art and ended up working for IBM designing multimedia applications. Since that time I've been working in all aspects of the computer Industry. from writing about it for Computer Shopper and PC Zone, talking about it for Sky TV and then getting involved with this thing called the Internet. I've been working in e-commerce website development since 1998. Oh dear. I've got to say that it's now becoming interesting with sites like YouTube and the likes of Google, but like the rest of the computer industry, it's lost the pioneering spirit that attracted me to computing in the first place.

So I'm coming back to my art, and my love of science fiction. I read it, watch it, write it and draw it. Yep, I'm a Sci-Fi fan. But I'm a 'Trecker', not a 'Treckie'. No I cannot name every single Character and episode in Star Trek.

Now Star Wars, I saw it when I was 7 in 1977 when it came out. I remember when Darth Vader's TIE Fighter span off after being hit by his wingman - the

sound went! Boy the jeers and cat calls the projectionist got. People loved the film immediately. I spent years wishing to see it again and sadly my parents never took me again until Empire Strikes back. It gave me a real hunger for A New Hope. I collected everything I could, figures, books, wallpaper - my parents seemed to enjoy it as well. Now the thing I loved the most was... bubble cards, the original TOPPS cards. The smell of the sticks of cheap gum and the feel of the crude print is etched in my mind.

Years pass and I nearly - not quite, but nearly forget my passion for Star Wars. Then a few years ago I met one of my best friends. He is a fan of Star Wars. Now, he's well balanced, got two great kids, lovely wife, a consultant MD. But he's a fan... a real fan who has just about everything to collect. This guy has his own collection that would even rival Steve Sansweet at Rancho Obi-Wan. HE rekindled my love for Star Wars in a big way. Mike got me to start drawing, and he's now got my work along side the likes of Ralph McQuarrie. I'm not saying I'm that good, but for my work to be considered to be enjoyable was a great feeling.

So now Mike's got me doing Sketch Cards (I've not got a big collection of trading cards bringing back my childhood). I've got a few from various artists and thought it would be nice to do some of my own but I'm not registered so what's the point. My friend however thinks I'm good enough. What I hope is that people enjoy my work as I do creating it. That's what I'm looking for and if I get some money for it that's great. Maybee one day I hope to get registered, that would be fantastic. So I'm running a blog on StarWars.com about my journey.
